Crunch Wrap Supreme

I remember the first time I took a bite of a Crunch Wrap Supreme. It was a late-night snack run, and I stumbled upon a fast-food joint. The crunch, the flavors, and the sheer joy of that wrap built a memory that stayed with me. Time went on, and I found myself craving that same extraordinary experience but wanted to recreate it at home. With a bit of trial and error, I finally perfected my own homemade version. Let’s figure out what this dish is all about and how you can easily whip one up in your kitchen.

Optional Add-Ins

Equipment

Method

Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef
  1. Start by heating a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a teaspoon of olive oil, then toss in the ground beef. Brown it until fully cooked. This takes about 5-7 minutes. Break it up into small pieces with a spatula and drain excess fat.
Step 2: Add Seasoning
  1. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef. Pour in the beef broth. Mix everything together, allowing the seasoning to meld with the beef. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 3: Prepare Tostada Shells
  1. While the beef simmers, warm tostada shells in a separate pan on low heat. This step is crucial as it makes them more pliable. Avoid overcooking them; you want them just warm enough to handle.
Step 4: Assemble the Crunch Wrap
  1. Grab a flour tortilla. Start by adding a layer of the beef mixture in the center. Follow with a dollop of nacho cheese sauce, then sprinkle some shredded cheese on top. Next, place a tostada shell over the cheese. Spread sour cream over the tostada and top with diced tomatoes, lettuce, and red onion.
Step 5: Fold the Wrap
  1. Carefully fold the edges of the flour tortilla towards the center, covering the filling. Create pleats as you go to form a sealed parcel.
Step 6: Cook the Crunch Wrap
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the wrapped side down on the skillet. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip and repeat for the other side.

Notes

Here are some tips to ensure your Crunch Wrap Supreme turns out splendidly:
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh veggies and quality meat will make a noticeable difference in taste.
  • Experiment with Spices: If you’re feeling adventurous, add some chili powder or cayenne pepper to the beef for extra kick.
  • Don’t Overstuff: It’s tempting to fill it to the brim, but leaving some space makes folding easier.
  • Get Creative with Fillings: Try different proteins, beans, or even sautéed vegetables to customize your wrap.
  • Serve Immediately: These wraps are best enjoyed fresh off the pan for crispy goodness.
