Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Creamy Olive Oil Mayo
  • 2 oz Velvety Avocado Spread
  • 2 Tbsp Honey Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 4 Slices Aged Provolone
  • ½ Cup Crisp Romaine Hearts shredded
  • ½ Cup Cool Cucumber thinly sliced
  • ½ Roma Tomato thinly sliced
  • 2 oz Zesty Banana Pepper Rings
  • 2 Freshly Baked Hoagie Rolls

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. Before you start, lay out all your ingredients. This helps ensure you have everything you need for a seamless sandwich-making experience.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the creamy olive oil mayo, avocado spread, and honey Dijon mustard. Stir until you achieve a smooth, even consistency. This spread will ultimately bind the sandwich together.
  3. Add in the dried oregano to the spread mixture. This little herb packs a punch and adds aromatic notes that elevate the flavor profile. Stir well.
  4. With a sharp knife, slice the cucumber and tomato. Aim for thin slices to fit neatly into your sandwich. This way, you get a burst of freshness in each bite.
  5. Take the freshly baked hoagie rolls and slice them down the middle, being careful not to cut all the way through. You want to create a pocket to hold the ingredients.
  6. Spread a generous amount of the creamy mixture inside each hoagie roll. Follow this with layers of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, provolone cheese, and banana peppers. Feel free to add more or less of each ingredient per your taste.
  7. Once you’ve stuffed your sandwich to your liking, close the hoagie and enjoy immediately! If you're feeling fancy, consider pressing it in a pan for a few minutes to warm the bread.

Notes

  • Choose Fresh Bread: Fresh hoagie rolls make all the difference. Stale bread can ruin a great sandwich.
  • Chill Your Spreads: For an even creamier experience, chill your spreads before using them.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the spread and chop the veggies in advance, making lunchtime a breeze.
  • Customize It: Don’t hesitate to add or switch out ingredients based on your preferences or what you have on hand.
  • Slicing Technique: When slicing veggies, try using a serrated knife for tomatoes for a cleaner cut.
